New Restaurant to Try: Scuzzi’s Italian Grill

Pronounced “SKOO-zee” (as opposed to “SKUH-zee” which doesn’t sound particularly appetizing), we found this new Italian restaurant (NW Military and Loop 1604) very appealing. The interior has a Tuscan feel, with a large, comfortable bar space for after-work refreshment.

The menu includes what you’d expect from an Italian restaurant—Italian wedding soup, veal, seafood, lasagne, ravioli, along with a wide variety of vegetable choices. They feature lunch specials seven days a week from 11:00 am-4:00 pm. You’ll enjoy the fresh, crusty sourdough bread dipped in olive oil, the big bowls of shredded parmesan, and the roomy spoons perfect for pasta twirling. The night we visited, we enjoyed a $22 bottle of a nice Chianti.

My fettucine with prosciutto was nice and creamy and not swimming in sauce. The chunks of salty prosciutto provided a nice contrast to the cream sauce. Bruce’s veal saltimbocca was delicious, but the presentation was lacking. It needed something else on the plate.

This one will go on our “eating out tonight” list.
